The AI collection-builder is the more ambitious piece here, pointing toward a future where your watch list assembles itself rather than waiting for you to organize it.

Awkward cuts between songs or videos are one of those small annoyances that people dismiss in the moment but that erode how much they enjoy a product over time. The problem is real, and it compounds: a streaming service that feels choppy gets used less, trusted less, and eventually replaced.

The approach here, smoothing the handoff between pieces of content by reading ahead and adjusting how abruptly one thing ends before another begins, is proportionate to that problem. It is a narrow fix for a narrow irritant, which is exactly the right scope.

The second half, about automatically building collections of personal photos or videos, takes on something far messier. Most people have thousands of images they never organize, which is a genuine burden, but the filing says little about how the system would actually decide what belongs together, making it hard to judge whether this half of the patent matches the ambition it implies.
