Cover displays on foldable phones are awkward to use because they show one thing at a time on a screen that could reasonably show two. That limitation costs users the small but real convenience of glancing at, say, a calendar and a message thread without unlocking the phone or flipping it open.

Samsung's answer here is a dividing line, a colored bar that splits the outer screen into two zones so your eye knows where one piece of content ends and another begins. On a cramped, irregularly shaped surface, that visual boundary does real work.

The problem is modest, and the fix matches it. This is a quality-of-life improvement for a specific screen on a specific category of phone, and it does what it sets out to do without overpromising.
